Founders Paul van Merrienboer and Marco Knitel received the Young Scaler Award from Lex Hoefsloot, co-founder of Lightyear.
Paul van Merrienboer: "Winning the Young Scaler Award is a fantastic recognition for our team and our commitment to making cities more liveable and accessible. Since our first ride in 2020, we've focused on creating a new mobility offering that is not only practical but also sustainable. We are now approaching our 100 millionth passenger kilometer, and we've also become financially sustainable, as we've reached profitability. With our shared mopeds and cars, in collaboration with public transportation, we contribute to a more efficient mobility system for everyone."
Since its founding, Check has positioned itself as a strong player in innovative, accessible, and sustainable mobility. By combining advanced technology and data-driven insights, the company offers efficient transportation solutions. In recent years, Check has rapidly gained ground in cities across the Netherlands and is poised to expand on this success.
With this award, Check Technologies joins the ranks of previous winners such as Media.Monks, Picnic, and Coolblue. Check's growth reflects an important trend within the sector: the rise of young, flexible companies that are responding to the changing mobility needs of urban residents.
In addition to Check Technologies, three other Top 250 Award winners were recognised.
Mews, founded in 2012, won the Golden Scaler Award as the fastest-growing company in the Netherlands. The cloud-based hospitality platform, which reached unicorn status this year, now manages a third of all hotel rooms in the Netherlands and plays a key role in the digital transformation of the hospitality sector.
The Women-led Scaler Award was given to Creative Fabrica, an online platform that supports 50,000 creative makers worldwide, fosters creativity in the digital space, and is experiencing strong growth under female leadership.
Delft Imaging, a B Corp-certified medical imaging company, received the Impact Scaler Award. They were recognised for their contribution to health justice and groundbreaking innovation in healthcare.
The Top 250 Awards highlight the importance of sustainability and innovation within business models. Check Technologies serves as a perfect example of how companies can generate not only economic value but also societal impact. The Young Scaler Award not only shines a spotlight on Check's rapid growth but also underscores their focus on creating a sustainable future for urban mobility.
The Young Scaler Award is presented annually by the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship to the fastest-growing young company in the Netherlands. The award recognises companies that manage to balance strong growth with societal impact.
